just got off the phone with nardwuar. he did a phone interview with me live on the radio. the cool part is that i got to dj and sent him a bunch of tracks including: purple wizard, musicians of the british empire, sick things to play before and after the interview. it was about 30 minutes of talking. shit, i gave way too much information. at the end he asked me to tell listeners a little bit about 'what you told me', the song he was going to play next, and i said well, in one of the vocal breakdowns one of the girls peed in her pants a little. i did NOT name names....oMg what else did i say?

cheesy. fruity. feverish. fun.

lazy

current mood: lazy

not even a fever held me back from the party saturday night. sorta stupid- i know, but we had a gig so i really had no choice. it was so much fun too- so many people came out meredith & steve (yeah, thank you!!), kicks, darlene, marci & emily, debbie & bill, gomer, and so many more...yeah- many friends are good and i love them all. (hopefully their immunities were up) besides everyone coming out i don't recall having ever backed out of a gig for health reasons. you just get up there and do the best you can. i've played 2x with a fever before. once in oakland with the royal pains where i laid on the sidewalk outside after we played. and once at the monkey with the stuck-ups and goddamn gentlemen. i am pretty sure my fever actually broke during the paper dolls set saturday. i know i should have been on lock down but i had been doing so many good things for my body the week preceding. yoga sunday, massage monday, acupuncture tuesday, wednesday i took a day off and attempted to go to yoga but drank a bunch of beer instead. tuesday and thursday were steam and sauna - my favorites. i am also taking milk thistle caps, 3/6/9 omegas, renew-U liver support and skin clear tinctures and my regular vitamins. however, after swollen glands for 8 days i went to the docs today and they diagnosed me with bronchitis. i know exactly where i contracted said virus. the airplane home from NYC. yep, the guy next to me sniffed the entire flight. thank god for hoodies and earphones or i may have gone crazy. so, i got the antibiotics and should be good in two days. funny thing was that i was fine after our set and into sunday. but when the party was over and the whiskey and pills wore off so did my facade. whew, no work for me today. lots of sleep and fluids though. i was craving mac & cheese so i just went the store and came out with a strange combination of goods: stouffers small mac & cheese(so not good for bronchitis), cran-grape juice, water, apples, strawberries, a bag of frozen veggies(i never buy frozen), cruncy rasin-bran and soy milk, cambozola cheese & wasa, morningstar chix patties and candy fruit slices. weird because i rarely buy many of these things, not really even hungry just have cravings. damn fever. get well soon self we have a big weekend at egg coming up.

wylde knights

April 3rd, 2007 (02:30 pm)

it is beautiful, beautiful sunny day in seattle. i finally had a day without drinking yesterday. it had been a good 12 days of full on party mode before that. i got home from NYC saturday night and am just starting to feel normal.

i had another unforgettable birthday last week, 3rd one in a row that i have been at least 3,000 miles from home, that ended in as much of an adventure as it began. after i missed my plane i was on stand-by for 3-4 hours but i made it to NY by late evening. i took a cab to my hotel on utica in crown hts. i wanted to scope out the bus and train to manahattan since i needed to be there in a few hours to meet nora and darlene. i took off walking about 6PM and on the walk i was called several things (little white girl, red, gringo, and princess to name a few), offered drugs and was mistaken for a prostitute. interesting choice of neighborhoods but i stuck with it and after 4 days kinda got used to it. with phone directions from nora i made it to the litlounge without a map and began to relax. it was great to catch up with nora even in the packed bar. after the gig derek told us the pop machine was going to play with the make out party at cake shop at 1AM. darlene, mamma casserole, lynn, melinda and i made our way with only one stop for beer. the make out party was great and there quite a few people from seattle there. whiskey for all until about 4am when i decided my birthday was officially over. i took a cab back to brooklyn and the cabby made a wrong turn somewhere off of eastern parkway. he was pulled over and they discovered he was only licensed to drive cab in NJ not NY. the cops told me i had to get out and find another cab. unfortunately there are no other cabs in brooklyn. ok, there may be but i was told to use towncars and that they need to be called for pickup. i basically made the cops give me a ride to my hotel and since there were 3 cop cars on the scene at this point they did not have a problem accommodating me. pacing my room i made a call to obomb for moral support. i then slept for 8 hours and started it all over again. thanks o!

my bus stop to get the 4 train was so crowded i could never fit on the bus. so everyday i walked it, it was about 1 ½ miles, endured the name calling and kept a pace that would wind any motherfucker who got near. it was super fun to explore manahattan on my own. i went everywhere, including radio city music hall, the trinity cathedral, of course soho, canal street, chinatown, little italy, and on and on loving every waking moment of my experience.

thursday night when i got to southpaw, a club in the park slope neighborhood of brooklyn, i stared running into people i knew. people from SF, seattle, and NY. i was talking to dan wood who’s band the pets i had just missed, and i soon discovered my best friend from years ago, TRACY NELSON, was in town and would be at the festival the next night. good things getting better. nikki and the corvettes were awesome and lynn and i made it to the front just in time to see JOSIE COTTON take stage and do johnny are you queer boy. wow!!!!!!!!!!!! josie cotton – right there two feet in front of me, and nikki and georgia peach– girl heros everywhere around me and i was in heaven. it was a very inspiring night for my life of dedication to rock n’ roll. darlene, mamma and all the girls, with many cute boys in tow, went to another club called magnetic field after southpaw closed. the party and shots ensued, the proof is in the photos.

friday was more of the same: shopping and walking and taking photos of it all. when i got to southpaw i found tracy and nina within 15 minutes of arriving. we were like three school girls who just got back from separate summer vacations or something. we saw the best band – the neighborhoods – and the hot singer/guitar player who was like 50 years old looked 25. yeah i was pretty lit by then and near the middle of the room but he was HOT and totally rocked it. i did however miss tina & the total babes. she said she’d still play with paper dolls though. SF here we come. another crazy coincidence was that ben, the drummer for the paper dolls, was in NYC pitching to DC comics. he showed up at southpaw to meet me, tracy and nina partying it up in the streets. it was so crazy to see so many familiar faces far away from home. the night was not over at 230AM when tracy, nina and i took a cab to manhattan to go to the dictators bar, manitoba’s, on ave. b and 8th street. it was thee best cab ride i have ever taken. we sang along to the human league cranked up, smoked cigarettes and pot, holy shit – wild girls getting wilder. i swear within in 15 minutes after getting to manitobas tracy had a british boyfriend, i met a 52 year old man with the same birthday as me and nina had disappeared. kamakizies and beers were bought for us and when that bar closed we went to another. it was when i was taking another hundred dollars out of the cash machine and had to close one eye to hit the pin correctly that i knew my night was nearing an end. the next thing i know plans were being made to continue the party at a house. i decided to say good night. they were trying to get me to change my plane ticket home since it was leaving in 12 short hours. good thing i don’t always listen to drunk people.

saturday before my flight i met darlene at the chelsea hotel and we went to lunch at the white horse. a super cool bar where darlene tells me dillon thomas had his last drink. ah food finally, for some reason i failed to eat much on this trip. i haven’t really stopped eating since i have been back and plan on taking a few days off from drinking. i am also on the full herbal detox of milk thistle and renew-U liver support. just for an added extra health boost. shit, i gotta be ready for our gig this saturday night at the funhouse.

meditating at the airport on stand by

March 28th, 2007 (11:11 am)

to keep myself calm i'm sitting on the floor near an outlet for my laptop, paid for some internet, bought headphones and am listening to the germs. what a birthday thus far. i got 4 hours of sleep, which should have been 3 but my wake-up call never happened. asshole at the front desk didn't like my in and out to smoke at 3AM. so i woke up late an hour late. fortunately the car service driver waited in the lobby for 45 minutes. nice guy so that made up for the asshole desk dude. then i went to the wrong airport. yep, missed my flight to nyc. i never do this kind of shit. but what can ya do? maybe check your fucking itinerary a little more closely? i was pissed for like 30 seconds then hopped in a blue van to dulles. another 30 bucks and delta said they ONLY oversold the 250PM flight by 3 seats and that i should be able to get on. ummm how??? that's 3 too many people. my luggage had to be checked since i had shampoo and perfume and other liquid shit, and it will be on that flight with or without me. oh yeah. peace and calm. i'm almost too tired to be upset but i would really like to be looking a subway map right now. luckily i went to H&M yesterday and am carrying on a new pink bag full of new clothes. what will the rest of my day hold? more of this? i truly hope not. i am calling the hotel to confirm my room right now.
